Road trip & Great friends

Over Memorial Day weekend, Kyle and I had the privilege of seeing some of our best friends! We took a little road trip to Louisiana and then to East Texas.  It was so much fun to see great friends, eat good food & just enjoy the weekend!

Our first stop was Shreveport, Louisiana. My very best friend of all time was visiting Shreveport with her husband! Joseph and Courtney live in Wilmore, Kentucky (really far away!) Joseph is in Seminary and Courtney is getting her Masters in Social Work from Asbury College.  They traveled to Shreveport over Memorial Day Weekend to visit some of Joseph's family. We absolutely wouldn't miss the chance to see them since they were so close to Dallas!

Joseph & Courtney invited us to attend the annual "Patty Crawfish Boil."  So, Kyle and I truly got to experience a Louisiana Saturday Night! Joseph's family was so gracious to welcome us into their family gathering. They taught us the "proper" way to eat crawfish. We had fun playing washers, chasing around the cute little kiddos and hanging out altogether.

They had huge ice chests full of boiled crawfish, corn and potatoes. I had never seen anything like it before!

I have to say, I don't know if crawfish is my favorite thing to eat....but I did try a few! Mom, are you proud? I'm trying new things....=)

We had so much fun seeing Joseph & Courtney! The last time I saw Courtney was on my wedding day (9 months ago!), so this reunion was necessary and absolutely wonderful! Even though she lives so far away, we still remain to be the best of friends.  She's one of those friends you can trust with anything, she's there 110% of the time, and she loves me despite my imperfections. She speaks truth into my life and is a prayer warrior when I need it the most, all the way from Kentucky. =)  Friends like this are few and far between...I consider myself unconditionally blessed to have her in my life.  I love you Courtney Rebekah!

After we left Shreveport, we traveled to the "Rolling K Ranch" near Tyler, Texas for our second stop of the trip! Clayton and Ashley Kendall were so kind to invite us to join them.  The Kendall's Ranch has always been one of Kyle's favorite places to go, but this was my first time.  Kyle would always tell me how beautiful and peaceful it was out there, but words can't even describe the beauty until you experience it for yourself....

Thanks for letting us enjoy the ranch, Kendall family!
Can't wait to come back sometime soon. =)

Mrs. Quin & other fun Phillip things...

This past weeekend, I had the honor of being a part of a beautiful hill country wedding for two wonderful friends - Miss. Lauren Sherman and Mr. Blair Quinius.

I met Lauren at Baylor about 6 years ago.  We were both speech pathology majors. Coincidentally ,we became neighbors for 3 years, we went to Honduras together, and then we became roommates during graduate school! She was a perfect roommate. She was clean, she taught me how to cook yummy things, (and she was patient with me when I messed up -- even if it was Hamburger Helper. Oops!) and she was the best study parter EVER. (Did I mention that she made a 4.0 in grad school?)

Lauren and Blair are such a fantastic couple. They love each other and they love the Lord! Here are a few pictures from the weekend....

 Precious.

I love you Mrs. Lauren Quinius. You made a beautiful bride. I was thrilled to be a part of your big day!

Congratulations Blair & Lauren! Blessings to you as you begin a wonderful adventure together. Can't wait to visit Hondy! :)

While I was in San Antonio at the wedding, Kyle was enjoying some "guy time" with friends on Lake Travis in Austin to celebrate the upcoming wedding of a friend.

We both arrived back in Dallas on Sunday afternoon, went out to dinner, (Olive Garden gift card--thanks Mom!) and then began brainstorming where we were going to watch the MAVS Game 6.  Being the frugal people that we are, we don't have cable at our apartment, so we put our heads together to find a spot to watch the game... we decided to go downtown to Lincoln Park at the American Airlines Center. It was AWESOME! We had so much fun cheering the MAVS onto victory with everyone there.

Here is a pic of us right after the Mavs won...

People were going CRAZY after the game!

That's all for now! Have a wonderful weekend!

Our Cozy Home

As promised, I decided to post a few pictures of our cozy little home on the blog! My mom helped us move in, but the last she saw -- our apartment was in a state of DISATER! So, she has been wondering if it looks any better now than it did before. And, my mom-in-law is in Chicago, which, by the way- is entirely too far away from Dallas, but I know she likes to see where her son and daughter-in-law are living! (Actually, these pictures are to prove that we don't just live in a tent! If Kyle had it his way, he would LOVE to camp out every night...haha!) I hope you enjoy the tour! It's small and cozy, but we love it & it works for us.....at least for 12 months it will work for us. :)

Here we go.....the front door....WELCOME!

The kitchen...it's so tiny....but it works great!

The living area....

Our bedroom...

We LOVE the map! All the places we have been are pinned....I'm looking forward to adding some new pins this summer after our Alaska trip!

And last, but not least......drumroll.......the laundry room! I LOVE having a laundry room. It is the most wonderful thing in the world! I found this ELFA shelving unit at a garage sale--it is awesome for extra storage!

And, the best part of the laundry room is our NEW washer & dryer......yipee! These make laundry fun. :)

Well, that just about sums up the tour of our cozy home.  I hope you enjoyed it! Please come visit!

Blessings,
Bethany
