Prayer Wall {Vintage Shutter}

The other night I was lying in bed & thinking of all the little things I needed to do the next day… During my thinking process, I remembered that I had an old shutter tucked away in the closet.  I remembered that at our old apartment, I used it to display pictures and notes. I really love this old shutter & I’ve been trying to figure out where to put it in our house.

So, just before I fell asleep for the night, the idea popped in my mind…Why not make it into a prayer wall? So, that’s just what I decided to do.

Since we’ve been married, we made a commitment to pray together every night before bed.  We’ve adopted my family’s system: On the odd nights of the week, the boys pray & on the even nights, the girls pray. It’s worked out great for us, too! Kyle and I take turns praying for each other, our families and any prayer requests that we may have.  It’s turned into one of my favorite moments of the day.

Now before bed, we can each pick one card from the "wall" to pray for each night. I hope to continue this tradition when we have little ones around!

Here’s what I came up with…

For each prayer request/verse card, I used blank note cards and scrapbook paper.  I also decided to laminate the cards, so I can reuse them over & over. Of course, another idea I had was to not laminate the cards, but keep them paper. Then, write on each card & keep them in a journal afterwards to keep track of all that God is doing in your life or friend’s lives.  I also like writing verses that God is teaching me & then saving them in a journal…in the years to come, it would be pretty cool to look back at what verses I have studied and the lessons I was learning during my life at that time.

I also decided to cover the clothes pins with scrapbook paper, too…just for fun!

I really like how it all came together & I’m even more excited about keeping up with our prayer requests!
Luke 11:9 says, “So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with ALL of your heart.”
